Specialty Service

Have a "special" car? A car that has always been a headache to every mechanic who's looked at it? Got a particular issue that even the dealership can't figure out. How about a disconnected wire that goes to nothing, and no one can figure out where it leads to or if it's important or not? MotoResto thrives on these specialty services.

The vast knowledge of Andrew Joseph (and our soon to be hired/announced employee) will make sure that your vehicle is working at its 100%, if not better than the day it was built.

Here are some things that Andrew can do for your vehicle:

Engine Management:

Diagnostics in Bosch electronics and engine management systems, specifically:
D-Jetronic, L-Jetronic, LH 2.2/2.4/3.0, and our personal favorite, K-Jetronic.

We do offer consultations when considering modernizing your car’s management system, namely the benefits of simple programmable ignition systems, or how far you can take a full stand-alone engine management system. Candidates for this type of conversion include D, L, and LH Jetronic systems.

K-Jet, KE-Jet and CIS systems are family of fantastic retro fuel injection systems that garner more complaints than praise by most owners. Your K-Jet system CAN work flawlessly when set up and adjusted correctly. The most prevalent commonality across poorly running K-jet cars is previous adjustments made to improve runnability issues caused by other failed components. Whether it’s an ‘80s VW Rabbit, or a Mercedes W201, a vintage Porsche or even a Cizeta V16, all K-jet systems operate under the same principals, and can be optimized. Yes, your K-Jet equipped can run like new again.

General Electrical

Yes, the one thing that most mechanics prefer to avoid we readily welcome. Electrical malfunctions are treated similarly to mechanical failures. Even if your car’s electrical system was designed by the “Prince of Darkness” (Lucas) it can be restored to full functionality.

Volvo Transmission Rebuilds

One of my favorite weekend activities is rebuilding Volvo M41, M410, and M46’s (we do rebuild M47’s as well, but I’ll complain about it.)
Most Volvo manual transmissions of this vintage are nearly bulletproof, but develop noisy main and aux bearings over time, and on occasion crunchy synchros. Luckily all seals, most bearings and many of the internals are still available from various suppliers. We only use Redline MTL, MT85, and MT90 (dependent on transmission and climate) but will substitute SAE30 if strictly required by the customer. If you are a DIY’er and currently have your M41 disassembled in your basement and need assistance, please feel free to reach out to us- our main goal is to keep as many of these cars on the road as possible.
